Public courses:

NEW - Go green – a beginner’s guide for life and the garden!

Wednesday 24 March 2010

Want to do more for people and the planet but don’t know where to start? Confused by the contradictions of what is “environmentally friendly” and what isn’t? This one day course will explain what sustainability is all about, and then focus on climate change and calculating your carbon footprint. It will also provide you with three examples where you can go green in your garden. The day will involve talks, discussion, activities and practical experience to help you integrate environmental issues into your life and, especially, your garden.

This course is delivered by Karen Gardham of Green Minded and Bridgette Saunders, an organic gardening specialist, and is organised by The Garden House, who run workshops, courses and garden visits in and around Brighton. See their website for more information.

How to write an environmental policy

This one day session is ideal for those who need help to build capacity within their organisation to begin to recognise and reduce its environmental impact, need to write an environmental policy, and don't know where to start, or are having difficulty in bringing all the necessary elements together.

Customers often expect a business to have an environmental policy, businesses bidding for contracts with the public sector will need one, and charities looking for grant funding will often find an environmental policy is a requirement. By the end of this one day course, you will be able to write your own environmental policy.

For whom?

Managers, policy makers, and those responsible for environmental issues in charities, community and voluntary sector organisations, businesses, and the public sector

This session is open to anyone interested in writing an environmental policy. Please see our Testimonials page for feedback on the last course.

Be waste-minded

Office workers can get through as much as 50 sheets of paper a day. Much of this ends up in landfill - 24% of the total waste in the UK is from printing and writing paper.

This workshop will help you plan a campaign to make your work colleagues more waste-minded.
